“The High Caliber Military Member of the Month (MMoM) for November 2017 is Jaclyn Scott!
Jaclyn Scott (known by most as Jax) is this months High Caliber Military Member. Jaclyn has always eschewed social constraints, preferring to shoot guns, ride dirt bikes and horse jumping; often times she was the only female competitor. Ever since she can remember, she yearned to experience the diversity of cultures outside of her own. When afforded the opportunity, she began to travel the world, preferring ‘off the beaten path’ destinations where she could experience cultural immersion.
While most of her peers were in their sophomore or junior year of college, Jax began her first entrepreneurial venture; a successful nationwide perfume company. However, longing for adventure, she knew she needed more in her life. With a family that included a Purple Heart recipient grandfather and a Ranger brother, she wanted to be a Soldier. The past 14 years have changed her life.
Jax military experience is not for the weak-hearted. One accomplishment includes her completion of the first Army all volunteer women team called Cultural Support Team (CST) training program in the spring of 2011. Upon graduation, the females deploy with teams of Rangers or Special Forces to enable them within their operations. She completed 2 combat tours embedded with a team of Special Forces in the villages of northern Afghanistan. She worked over 500 Key Leader Engagements (KLE) and 20 Direct Action (DA) missions in support of the Special Forces, subsequently supporting the 3rd Kandak Afghan Commandos. During her tours, she served with seven different ODA teams in all nine provinces of northern Afghanistan.
As a Staff Sergeant, Jax received the Bronze Star of Merit (an award reserved only for the best Soldiers in the rank of Sergeant First Class and higher) for her outstanding leadership as Team Leader during combat.
Today Jax is a Chief Warrant officer within Special Forces (National Guard). She has taken her leadership training she obtained in the military and brought it to the civilian sector. She likes to say “I’ve taken the battle to the boardroom”, as her roles include CEO and Founder of Tactical Divas and Outpost Gray.
She understands the need for women to grow in leadership. Tactical Divas takes a unique approach, using female veterans to empower and inspire women through controlled stress environments. This includes utilizing rope courses, rappelling, shooting and much more.
Outpost Gray is a more aggressive firm; she takes a gender-specific approach to combating terrorism, sex trafficking, and illegal drug trade. Definitely not your typical 9-5 job.
Time off for Jax includes hiking (Just completed Grand Canyon Rim 2 Rim), diving, traveling, nonprofit work and/or sleeping.
